UX/UI DESIGNER
A user-centered, results driven professional dedicated to improving the overall user experience right now while also ensuring that it remains secure and reliable for the future.
My Story
Aside from the nine months I spent at Quicken Loans in 2014, I have been with Autodesk since 2001. Autodesk develops a wide range of software focused on design and simulation, enabling the creation of everything from chairs to rockets. The users of these software packages vary, but throughout my career, I've primarily catered to mechanical, electrical, process, and industrial engineers who design solutions for complex problems. As a user experience designer, it was my responsibility to ensure we provided what was needed in the simplest way possible. I attribute my journey to becoming a User Experience professional to the insights and empathy I've gained for both customers and the business. This path has ignited my passion for crafting exceptional experiences while addressing business challenges. For an overview of my career, see below, and for more details, feel free to check my resume.

My Approach to UX Design
As user experience designers, our main focus is to comprehend and advocate for users needs, but I believe we have a distinct responsibility that goes further. We operate at the crossroads of user needs, business objectives, and technical limitations. It’s essential for us to consider both the business requirements and technical constraints while striving to meet user needs. Overlooking these aspects can hinder the project’s success and its ability to fulfill user expectations.

I have encountered various interpretations and illustrations of the double diamond concept. From these examples, I created the illustration on the left, which resonates with my perspective and includes the user at the center of both diamonds.
In essence, I begin with the information we possess or are given, treating it as a hypothesis to validate or invalidate through different forms of customer engagement. As we navigate the first diamond, we determine our approach to tackle the defined problem. Transitioning to the second diamond, we start developing solutions, engaging customers throughout the process and collaborating with developers to identify any technical limitations we might face with the proposed solutions.
